{"id":2027,"date":"2026-06-26T11:55:59","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T10:55:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polandembassy.orderofmalta.int\/?post_type=news&#038;p=2027"},"modified":"2026-07-05T11:56:56","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T10:56:56","slug":"order-of-malta-at-the-ukraine-recovery-conference-2026","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/polandembassy.orderofmalta.int\/en\/news\/order-of-malta-at-the-ukraine-recovery-conference-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Order of Malta at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026"},"featured_media":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-2027","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry","news_categories-news","news_tags-evidence"],"acf":{"hidden_news":"no","evidence":"yes","focus_on":"no","breaking":"no","news_cover":{"id":2028,"url":"https:\/\/polandembassy.orderofmalta.int\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2026\/07\/1-Cover-1.jpg"},"cover_image_copyrighted":false,"news_content":"<p>A delegation from the Sovereign Order of Malta attended the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026, which took place in Gda\u0144sk on 25 and 26 June 2026, confirming the Order\u2019s continuous commitment to supporting the reconstruction of Ukraine and communities affected by the conflict.<\/p>\n<p>The delegation was led by the Order of Malta\u2019s Ambassador to the Republic of Poland, Niels Lorijn, representing the Grand Master, and included Mohammad El Hajj, Country Director of Malteser International in Ukraine, Oleksiy Poburko, Deputy Director of the Order\u2019s Relief Organisation in Ukraine, Rafa\u0142 Szepietowski, Director for International Cooperation of the Order\u2019s Polish Relief Organisation, and Sofiya Myhal, representing the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>On the first day, the delegation greeted Prime Minister Donald Tusk of Poland, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko of Ukraine and Minister Pawe\u0142 Kowal, Chairman of the Council for Cooperation with Ukraine. The inaugural ceremony was attended by numerous heads of state and government, as well as the heads of European institutions and international organisations, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and World Bank Group President Ajay Banga.<\/p>\n<p>Among the conference&#8217;s key messages was the recognition of the importance of the human dimension of Ukraine\u2019s recovery, including mental health support for those most affected, assistance to adults and children with disabilities, the protection of the younger generation, and the sustained strengthening of societal resilience.<\/p>\n<p>During his participation at a panel entitled <em>\u201cGeneration of Recovery: Youth as a Driver of Ukraine\u2019s Recovery\u201d, <\/em>Oleksiy Poburko stressed the importance of an all-inclusive reconstruction of the country, highlighting the assistance that the Order of Malta has provided to over four million people in Ukraine since the start of the war, including healthcare and psychosocial support, rehabilitation and prosthetic services, summer camps and exchange programmes for young people, and support for underground schools, shelters and vulnerable families.<\/p>\n<p>The Order of Malta has been present in Ukraine for thirty-five years and its response to the emergency caused by the current conflict represents one of its most extensive relief programmes since World War II.
