On the occasion of the feast day of St. John the Baptist, the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Poland held the traditional Holy Mass at the Field Cathedral of the Polish Army in Warsaw, followed by a reception in the conference room of the Cathedral.

Holy Mass was celebrated by Monsignor Pavel Talapka, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Apostolic Nunciature and the Rev. Fr. Father Jan Słowiński former Chaplain of the Order’s Headquarters in Rome.

The event was attended by members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Poland, representatives of the Polish Government and of multilateral organisations, as well as members and volunteers of the Order of Malta in Poland.

During his welcome speech, Ambassador Niels Carl A. Lorijn recalled the significance of the Order’s hospitaller mission and its ever-growing efforts to lessen the suffering of those in need in over 120 countries around the world. He also looked back on the magnitude of the humanitarian aid that the European and overseas structures of the Order continue to provide to the victims of the war in Ukraine, and in many other ongoing and often forgotten conflicts in the Middle East and elsewhere, highlighting the need for closer bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
