13th Order of Malta Charity Concert in Poznań

The annual Order of Malta Charity Concert, organized by the Association of Polish Knights of Malta and the Poznań Philharmonic, took place in the University Hall in Poznań. The guests were welcomed by Mr. Jerzy Baehr, former President of the Association of Polish Knights of Malta.

The concert was held under the patronage of: H.E. Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, Metropolitan of Poznań; H.E. Niels Carl A. Lorijn, Ambassador of the Order of Malta in Poland; Mr. Michał Zieliński, Voivode of Wielkopolska; Mr. Marek Woźniak, Marshal of the Wielkopolska Province; Mr. Jacek Jaśkowiak, President of the City of Poznań; prof. dr hab. Bogumiła Kaniewska, Rector of the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań; and prof. dr hab. Andrzej Tykarski, Rector of the Medical University of Karol Marcinkowski in Poznań.

The star of the evening was the outstanding violinist Konstanty Andrzej Kulka. The Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra was conducted by Marek Pijarowski. The program of the concert “Sensefully and Romantically” included: Mieczysław Karłowicz – Violin Concerto in A major op. 8, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy – Music for a Midsummer Night’s Dream.

During this year’s concert, Dr Paweł Grabowski, founder of the first rural hospice in Podlasie, was honoured with the Maltese Phoenix Award for his outstanding work to provide professional support to dependent people, the terminally ill, and those dying in their homes. The proceeds from the concert were donated to the Malta Family Support Centre for Refugees from Ukraine in Poznań.

On the next day, Ambassador Lorijn took the opportunity to visit the Order’s “Komandoria” Medical Centre and the Church of Saint John of Jerusalem Outside the Walls in Poznań.
