On 14 November 2024, Ambassador Niels Lorijn attended a briefing session by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Poland’s National Migration Strategy (2025-2030).
The comprehensive presentation by Mrs. Livia Styp-Rekowska, Chief of Mission at IOM Poland, and the further insights and perspectives shared by representatives of the participating embassies and NGOs greatly enriched the discussions and contributed to a more comprehensive understanding of the Strategy, its development process, key goals, and future steps toward inclusive and sustainable migration policies.
The Order of Malta and the IOM have been working together on migration and related issues for decades and especially since the signing in July 2007 of a cooperation agreement between the two organisations. The close cooperation between the IOM and the Order of Malta focuses on emergency and post-emergency situations and involves providing medical and social assistance to migrants, assistance and protection to victims of traffickers and other vulnerable groups, as well as the promotion of human rights on an international level.
