On 6 June 2025, Ambassador Niels Lorijn met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski to discuss ongoing collaboration between Poland and the Order of Malta with regard to Ukraine, as well as future initiatives elsewhere, especially in the areas of international development cooperation and humanitarian aid.

Since the signing a protocol on cooperation with Ukraine last month, the Polish government and the Order of Malta are stepping up their joint efforts in a number of areas, including emergency relief, first-aid and rescue training, and physical and mental rehabilitation of victims.

Both parties have also agreed to meet at the upcoming Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome, where the Grand Master of the Order of Malta, H.M.E.H. Fra’ John Dunlap, is expected to deliver a keynote address.
