New Year’s Meeting at the Presidential Palace

Ambassador and Mrs Lorijn attended a New Year’s meeting hosted by the President of the Republic of Poland and Mrs Nawrocka with the Heads of Diplomatic Missions at the Presidential Palace. Among the guests were senior aids of the President, parliamentarians and members of government, including Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Radosław Sikorski.

In his opening remarks, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, H.E. Archbishop Antonio Filippazzi, conveyed New Year wishes from the Diplomatic Corps to Poland’s President, reflecting on the purpose of diplomacy, emphasising truth as the foundation of peace, and affirming diplomats’ commitment to solidarity, dialogue, and the welfare of Poland and the international community.

President Nawrocki welcomed the Diplomatic Corps, highlighted Poland’s strong economic growth and readiness to share its development experience, and stressed security challenges posed by Russia. He reaffirmed Poland’s commitment to NATO, defence modernisation and strong transatlantic ties, and advocated EU reform, regional cooperation and global economic engagement, emphasising the need for solidarity and diplomacy. He concluded by expressing hope that the coming year would bring stronger cooperation, mutual trust, and joint efforts in support of peace, security and development.

The gala drew to a close with a banquet, providing a setting for informal exchanges among guests.
